This brooch is based on the bronze gilt cross found in Ballycotton, Ireland and is now in the British museum. Like the original, the body is cast bronze that has been gold plated and has silver bosses riveted in place on each arm. In the centre there is a glass cabochon which I have carved the Arabic text that is present in the original which reads 'sha'a allah' or 'tubna lillah' (or 'bismillah'?).
