Based on a Romano-Celtic brooch dated to be around 1st century AD. The original is commonly believed to portray four horse heads, though it's likely to be boar heads instead. The design is very similar to what the head at the top of a carnyx (a Celtic war horn) looks like, which depicts a boar.
