"Norrie's Law hoard is a 7th-century Pictish silver hoard discovered in c. 1819 at Balmain Farm, north of Largo Law, Upper Largo, Fife, Scotland. It was buried in a Bronze Age burrow. The hoard weighed about 28 lb in total, including a large number of silver coins which were sold and melted down.

Lady Durham in the 1830s donated several silver items from the hoard to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland.

The characteristic symbols on some of the silver jewellery items are clearly reminiscent of the Pictish symbols otherwise only known from image stones."

The artefact which I based the pendant on is a mystery object, though it could be a piece from scale armour.

The plaques are lost wax cast and are made to order. The fully silver version will be hallmarked by the Edinburgh Assay Office. Available with a free choice of waxed cotton or leather cord. We also have a seperate listing with silver chains here if you desire.

Please note, you are buying a handmade piece of jewellery and we will not always have it in stock and I may require some time to make it. We currently have 5 silver plaques in stock.

If you want this in other materials such as gold please email me for a quote at caledonianforge@gmail.com We are always open to alter and change any of our pieces to suit your tastes.

This has been cast in high quality by Jewellery Casting Scotland and finished with a mixture of power tools and traditional hand tools like files and saws.

All our packaging is 100% paper. No plastic at all.

Due to the weight of this piece in any solid (not plated) precious metal by law it must be hallmarked. This will take roughly an additional 2-4 weeks. we normally use large hallmarks that stand out, always on the reverse of one sided pendants, the side of double sided pendants or the inside of rings or bracelets. If you would like them to be more subtle please let us know
