A reproduction of the 10th century Anglo Saxon trewhiddle style pectoral cross from the Galloway Hoard buried in south western Scotland.
Available as a single casting in a white bronze, yellow bronze or solid silver. The bronzes will tarnish to a brown colour if unpolished. We will darken the details of the silver version but please get in touch with us if you'd prefer it all to be clean silver without the darkening. Silver will recieve large hallmarks by Edinburgh Assay office on the reverse of the cross.
Please note to keep costs down we do not keep silver in stock and it will be made to order especially for you. Please allow around a month for completion.
The original piece has gold details and Niello. If you would like to discuss these as an option please get in touch though please be aware Niello contains lead so I will likely only be able to do this outside and on the rare occasion it is not raining here in Scotland. As the niello is on the face of the cross and it is unlikely to be worn against the skin this should not be an issue for lead absorbation. If anyone is interested I will of course look into the legal specifics of using lead on a piece of jewellery.

This has been cast using the lost wax method by Jewellery Casting Scotland and finished with a mixture of power tools and traditional hand tools like files and saws.
Available with a free leather cord if bought without a chain but please let me know if you would prefer a cotton option if you do not like leather.
All our packaging is 100% paper. No plastic at all.
