"Datable finds, among them a glass ornament and a silver strap fastener, were few, but they point to an Early Historic - probably 7th century - Pictish occupation. Carbon-14 dates are awaited." - Canmore
This "Buckle" has been carefully sculpted from the measurements taken of this object that was among the Dundurn Hillfort finds and then hand cast in my home workshop in the Scottish lowlands. Its exact fastening method is unclear but I use it as a strap end or a hanger for a knife sheaf. I will include copper rivets with each piece sold but the leather belt for now will not be included. - We hope to have this available in bronze soon!
Please note, you are buying a handmade piece of jewellery and we will not always have it in stock and I may require some time to make it!
If you want this in other materials such as gold please email me for a quote at firstname.lastname@example.org We are always open to alter and change any of our pieces to suit your tastes. In the listing the piece might look darker than the finished piece. We artificially darken our silver pieces with liver of sulfur so that the details will show up in photographs but as standard the finished piece will be shiny and polished. If you'd prefer us to darken it then please let us know and we will happily do this for you.
This has been carved by myself from wax, sand cast in my home workshop and finished with a mixture of power tools and traditional hand tools like files and saws.
All our packaging is 100% paper. No plastic at all.
We will not hallmark as standard except in the UK but if you do desire hallmarking then please ask us, otherwise it will be sent unhallmarked. This service will take up to an additional two weeks. - Furthermore, sometimes we will have this piece already hallmarked if it is already made, so if you do not wish this to be hallmarked, please let us know
