This brooch is the result of a long study of various extant Pictish brooches such as the Galway brooch and brooches from the St Ninians Hoard but was initially inspired by a broken fragment on display in Perth museum. There are also mould fragments in the Pictish levels of excavations at the Brough of Birsay, and even a broken bronze version in the Norse levels and a few examples of this type of brooch have been found as broken up metal detecting finds across Scotland and have been found in graves in Scandinavia so I assume this type of brooch with little birds or bats round the terminals were likely one of the most common styles of Pictish brooches.

As most of these brooches do not have accompanying pins this version is currently available with the pin taken from the Rogart brooch, but I hope in future to add some different pin options.

Hand carved to a close study of all available information of the brooch and then wax cast in high quality and hand finished.

There is also an option for glass cabochons to be fitted and gold plating.
